New Shredding Day September 13

Support the Skate Park and MBA while you clear out old business records.

Montague Business Association will host a paper shredding and hard drive destruction day Saturday September 13. In addition, the association will accept US flags for respectful retirement.

Valley Green Shredding has donated their services from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will be at the corner of Avenue A and 7th Street to destroy papers or hard drives that contain confidential information, such as customer or client records that include a person’s name and Social Security Number, driver’s license number, state issued identification, financial account number, credit or debit account number, or personal identi?cation number.

Massachusetts regulations to prevent identity theft require businesses that handle confidential personal information to safeguard that information. Regular culling and confidential shredding of paper records can be one way to protect yourself, your business, and your customers or clients against identity theft.

Area businesses and individuals are encouraged to bring their papers for shredding. Instructions from Valley Green Shredding include paper only; light textbooks, spiral notebooks, and paperclips are acceptable for this event. Hard drives must be removed from the computer.

Suggested donation per bag/box/hard drive is $5 and up. Funds will support the Unity Skatepark and the Montague Business Association.

Those interested in volunteering for this event can contact Stephan Smith, A. H. Rist Insurance, 863-4373.
